The Mountain Olympic Village is commissioned
On the 27th of December the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation issued a permit for the commissioning of the Mountain Olympic village located at “Rosa Khutor” resort.
The Mountain Olympic village (MOV) is the key venue of the future XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games in 2014. In just 2 years at the altitude of 1,130 meters above the sea level Rosa Khutor designers and construction workers managed to build a mountain village both elegant and equipped with modern engineering systems. 42 buildings fashioned in a consistent alpine design are scattered over an area of 23 hectares. On the territory of the village all conditions are established for comfortable stay of 2600 athletes and sports delegations during the Games. For the convenience of the athletes and their quick adaptation to the high-altitude climate, the village is located in close proximity to the most important venues of the future Olympic Games: the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park and the Alpine Ski center. The village is accessible by the new access road. Furthermore, guests can take a cableway «Olympia», the highest station of which “Rosa Priyut” is located within walking distance from the village.
After the Games-2014 the Olympic Village will become a part of the Rosa Khutor alpine ski resort. It’ll turn into 4 hotels with 648 rooms, 10 mini-hotels with 155 rooms, 15 apartment hotels with 669 rooms, restaurants, multi-level parking. The first floors of the apartment hotels will be shops, cafes, a children's center, a bank and other facilities.
