The grand opening of the Mountain Olympic Village at “Rosa Khutor” resort
The opening was held on January 30. Mayor and vice-mayor of the Mountain Village Svetlana Zhurova and Aleksey Nemov as well as President of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee Dmitry Chernyshenko welcomed athletes and guests.
The Mountain Olympic village situated at “Rosa Khutor” resort is one of the three Olympic villages, where athletes and delegation members will be accommodated during the Olympic Winter Games. The Village at “Rosa Khutor” is ready to receive almost 3,000 athletes and already first delegations have begun to inhabit their houses here. Athletes who compete in the following sports: skiing, bobsleigh, freestyle skiing, luge, Nordic combined, skeleton, ski jumping and snowboarding — will be staying here.
All residents of the Olympic Village will have access to canteen, polyclinic, fitness center, library, bank, cafes, club, shops and even multi-religious center with prayer rooms provided for the representatives of five major religions. All infrastructure is located within walking distance of residential areas. Convenient transport connections within the village and from the village to the competition venues will be available 24 hours a day. In addition, athletes and delegation members will be able to take advantage of two Rosa Khutor cableway stations, which are located within walking distance of the Mountain Village.
