Russian Paralympic Athletes Triumph
Of 80 awards, won by Russian national team at the XI Paralympic Games in Sochi, 16 medals were captured by the alpine skiers on the slope of Rosa Khutor Alpine Ski Resort.
6 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze medals – more than convincing result of the Russian Paralympians performance on the slopes of «Rosa Khutor». Sporting events of global scale, to which the Paralympic Games rightly belong, always bring into the world new stars and legends. The symbol of will and desire to win for millions of people with disabilities all around the world will become Alexandra Frantceva, competed in visually impaired category. At the XI Paralympic Winter Games Alexandra won two gold, two silver and one bronze medal! ! The same incredible success was achieved by 16-year-old alpine skier Alexey Bugaev, competed in the standing category. Among the athletes with visual impairment, the leader of national team became Valery Redkozubov, who won two gold and one bronze medal. Inga Medvedeva after an intense struggle in the most numerous category – women’s standing category — won two silver medals in the downhill and slalom. The huge breakthrough in the sports career can be considered the third place of Alexander Alyabyev in the slalom, in one of the most competitive categories: standing category.
