Preserving the environment is our core objective and the foundation of successful development of the Rosa Khutor resort

Compliance with Russian environmental law is a given element within our policy. We at Rosa Khutor take protecting the environment one step further by diligently preserving natural surroundings of the Mzymta river valley for current and future generations.

Our objective: exploration, preservation and promotion of our irreplaceable natural surroundings.

Our initiatives:

  • Research into the environment in order to harmonize with environmental protection programs
  • Raising the standard for construction projects to minimize negative impacts of such on our local environment.
  • Ongoing improvement of environmental monitoring on construction sites and development of sustainable operational procedures.
  • Protection and agricultural recovery of eroded land using autochthonous plants and grasses.
  • Well-organized and well-equipped routes enabling tourist access to sensitive ecosystems.
  • Research and protection of local endangered plants and animals, including the Black Sea salmon (Kumzha), a native species to the Mzymta river.
  • Encouraging researchers, scientists and the general public to participate in protecting the environment.

Our achievements, rightfully putting the Rosa Khutor resort at a leading position in Russia – made possible only due to unrelenting efforts of our staff and partners.

They prepare ski slopes at night, greet guests at the hotels, lead the way through demanding terrain, prepare and serve food, wash the dishes and deliver products, drive cars, make decisions and ensure our safety, they clean and they renovate. But most importantly, they do all of these things with a smile on their faces – making sure every guest has an unforgettable experience.

Partnership and cooperation are the key to success, and we know that by working together we can achieve more.

We are deeply grateful for each and every one of our partnerships and strive to support our partners in any way we can.

Our initiatives:

We work with entrepreneurs, experts, scientists and public figures to fulfill our mission. Some of those are:

  • Cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Mineral Resources to develop eco-tourism in the Black Sea/Caucasus region
  • Collaboration with the ‘Sirius’ education center to support scientific education programs for children
  • Collaboration with the national park Sotchi to implement green initiatives
  • Cooperation with the Institute of Ecology and Evolution of the Russian Academy of Sciences to support projects aiming to preserve biodiversity and the environment surrounding our resort
  • The assistance and acknowledgement of our partners and resort team members, who contributed a great deal in reaching our sustainability goals
  • Our ongoing forum on sustainability allows us to discuss latest developments and exchange ideas on further improvement of eco-tourism in the mountainous region of Sotchi

The children of today are the leaders of tomorrow.

We, as adults, are responsible for investing in teaching our children values and decision-making skills that may aid them in choosing which paths to pursue in life.

We strive for our resort to be an inspiring, stimulating and safe environment, all in all a valuable setting.

Our objective: becoming a leading destination for our younger guests by creating a sustainable, relaxing and active climate.

Our initiatives:

  • Offering educational workshops and excursions to students and children
  • Providing a positive and enjoyable atmosphere for organizations and initiatives aimed at teaching children and young adults about physical well-being
  • Creating a friendly environment for entry level employees as well as interns
  • Providing facilities that will encourage young adults to participate in sports and other activities at the resort
  • Raising awareness about alpine safety and other key aspects of outdoor activities.

The mountain resort ‘Rosa Khutor’ is located in the valley of the Mzymta river, the largest river of the Caucasus Black Sea area in Russia.

The history of this location goes a long way back and is filled with ancient tales of glory and victory.

The passage of time brought a tradition of hospitality to the beautiful Mzymta river valley, making our employees, partners and even guests contemporary carriers of this tradition.

We love the history of our region, rich with ancient narratives and legends, just waiting to be shared.

Our initiatives:

  • Collaborate with historians, archeologists and organizations researching our historic legacy
  • Ongoing research about the history of the Mzymta river valley and its surroundings
  • Create opportunities to bring our history closer to our guests
  • Encouraging publications on the history and geography of our region.

Rosa Khutor…

is Russia’s largest skiing region. The area is home to Europe’s largest snowmaking facility, with 28 ski lifts, a fully equipped park of snow groomers with its own power grid and water system. Rosa Khutor also offers office spaces, entertainment venues as well as clean, friendly and attractive lodging for everyone.

Resources necessary for the seamless functioning of our resort come at a price to us as well as to our planet.

While striving for energy efficiency, we are dedicated to making our infrastructure and resource consumption more efficient, in the process preserving the environment and allowing our resort to be financially accessible to our guests.

Our objective: reduce our energy consumption by 10% within a three-year timeframe (2018-2020)

Our initiative:

  • Optimization of operational procedures in order to improve resort infrastructure
  • Monitoring and optimizing all resources and systems necessary for the functioning of our skiing network
  • Modernizing engineering systems and machinery to energy efficient and economic options.
  • Involving our team, our partners and guests to collectively reduce their carbon footprint.
  • Obtaining certificates for existing and future infrastructure projects to ensure adherence with international environmental regulations.
  • Developing sustainable purchasing systems in compliance with the international ISO 20400 standard.

We collect and recycle secondary raw materials.

Every day shops, restaurants, cafes, offices and staff facilities in Rosa Khutor have to carry out a multitude of purchases necessary to offer our guest an unforgettable experience.

We carry out daily waste collections, a considerable amount of which is recyclable and can be considered secondary raw material. (paper, plastic packaging, wood, glass and bio-waste).

We are currently working on an initiative aimed at supporting recycling while simultaneously reducing waste pickup expenses.

Our goal: reduce the amount of unrecycled waste by 20% within a three-year period (2018-2020).

Our initiatives:

  • Cooperation with local recycling organizations and recycling activists
  • Establishment of recycling centers in both business and tourist areas of the resort.
  • Development of recycling requirements for sorting secondary raw materials at the resort
  • Raising awareness about recycling among our staff and guests.
  • Involving our team, partners and guests in recycling initiatives to reduce waste in office spaces, hotel rooms etc..
